Being an architect in 2030?

"Profession? Architect". The term architect encompasses a multitude of practices and perceptions. After decades, the notion of the architect as demiurge or star architect seems outdated. The notion of the architect as conductor of an orchestra is hybridising, becoming architect-as-agent, architect-as-occupier, architect-as-craftsman, as the profession adapts in response to the weight of regulations, the scarcity of resources or materials, the resignation of certain public officials, the conditions of practice more generally, but also to the environmental transition, which is resolutely transforming the way we think and the way we do things.

So what will it be like to be an architect in 2030? Carla Frick-Cloupet (author of the text Form is functioning from Architectures Wallonie-Bruxelles Inventaires #4 2020-2023, architect and researcher), Joëlle Servais (president of the Regional Association of Municipal Directors and Engineers), Jacques Timmerman (European architects council), Philippe Meilleur (president of the French- and German-speaking Ordre des Architectes) and Laurent Vermeersch (co-founder of the architectural firm H&V), will discuss how the profession is changing.
